Canoe trip
HANOVER – A canoe and kayak trip will be held Sunday, Sept. 18, looking to have the most canoe and kayaks on the Androscoggin River in history from Hanover to Rumford.
Launching will be at 9:30 a.m. at Hanover boat landing and arriving at Rumford boat landing by McDonald’s restaurant. A gathering will be held after the trip at the Byam residence at 1756 Route 2 in Rumford Point.

Author to visit
RUMFORD – Kathy Lynn Emerson will be at the Rumford Public Library Public Room at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20. She has two new titles out this year.
The second book in the Diana Spaulding series, “Fatal as a Fallen Woman, Book Two,” is available.
When Diana’s father is murdered in Colorado and her mother is accused of the crime, she heads west to find the real killer.

New officers
WOODSTOCK – The new officers of the Woodstock Historical Society are Olive Risko, president; Annella Burnham, vice president; Elaine Roberts, secretary; Paul Billings, treasurer; Ruth Cox, trustee; Annella Burnham, board chairwoman; Elena Noyes, vice chairwoman; and Larry Billings, curator.
The September program was “Bryant Pond, the Last Ringdown,” a video supplied by Vicki May Billings. It told the story of 30 years of the old phone system run in the Hathaway family home.
Billings donated a sign that said “Simplify” and a print of a rose. Annella Burnham and Mary Billings supplied refreshments. Meetings will be at the museum the second Saturday of each month at 7 p.m. until Christmas. The public is welcome.
Story time
DIXFIELD – The Ludden Memorial Library has begun their preschool story time program for children ages 2 to 5 at 10:30 a.m. Mondays in the children’s room. The program will be under the direction of Mill Carol.
Parents are welcome to bring their children and stay for the story, craft and snack time. For more information call 562-8838.
