ST. HYACINTHE, QUEBEC – Sister Irene Gagnon (Demers), 91, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at the Mother House of the Sisters of Charity. She had been in the religious profession for 70 years.
Born at Norton Mills, Vt., she entered the congregation on March 19, 1932, where she made her profession on Oct. 16, 1934.
She was a registered nurse, where she was responsible for the maternity wards in various missions in the U.S. and in Canada at Sherbrooke and Quebec.
She is survived by one sister, Maria Gagnon Whitehead of Beverly, Mass.; a brother, Paul E. Gagnon of Ardsley, Pa.; a brother-in-law, Albert Montesi (widower of Leona), of Berlin, N.H.; and a few nieces and nephews.
