NEW GLOUCESTER – Musician Dave Rowe has initiated an effort to raise money locally to help victims of Hurricane Katrinia in the Gulf Coast. It is taking shape in the form of a concert with a festival format to be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, on Gloucester Hill at Thompson’s Apple Orchard, 276 Gloucester Hill Road.

Rowe has been working with Fiddlehead Center for the Arts, L/A Arts, Thompson’s Apple Orchard and, of course, the American Red Cross. In addition, many businesses, including HPA Production Services, Penmore Lithographers Inc. and McAtee Excavation have come forth to help make this concert a success.

Artists have donated their stage time to make this event a fun day for the whole family.

One of the musicians, Matthew Doucet of Portland, son of Cajun fiddler Michael Doucet of the band Beausoleil, is a Louisiana native. Matthew performs with the Maine Acadian band Boréal Tordu.

Besides music there will be food, alternative energy information, artists, apple picking and more. Please bring your own chair and kindly leave all pets home.

Tickets are $8. There will be a bucket brigade donation center on site. Children under 12 will be admitted free of charge. Tickets may be purchased at www.fiddleheadcen-ter.org. For more information, call either Fiddlehead Center for the Arts at 688-2244 or L/A Arts at 782-7228; or go online to www.laarts.org.
