LEWISTON – New Beginnings, a nonprofit agency serving youths between the ages of 12 and 21, is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

In honor of its anniversary, New Beginnings will hold a 5K race/walk on Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Multi-Purpose Center. The race is to increase community awareness of the programs offered and as a fund-raiser.

It is also an opportunity for an individual youth or youth groups in the area to support and help one another. Those interested should contact Brenda McCannell at 782-5140 or [email protected].

The agency provides a variety of services to youth who are runaways, homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. During the past year, more than 500 youths were served through an emergency shelter, a transitional living program and an outreach program.
