PARIS – The Parisian Orchestra will host a benefit dance for Harley Stevens at the Paris Fire Station on Tuesday.
The dance, which begins at 8 and ends at 10:30 p.m., will feature old-time dance music as well as hits from the ’50s and ’60s such as “Blue Suede Shoes.” Admission is $5.
Stevens, 82, lost his home in a fire on July 25.
The fire also destroyed his barn and most of the attached farmhouse, killing Stevens’ two hunting dogs.
Insurance money helped Stevens purchase a recreational vehicle, which he has been living in on his Elm Hill property since the fire.
He said in August, though, that insurance was not enough to cover removal of the remains of his home, pouring a new foundation and the purchase of a modular home.
Following the fire, Stevens’ family said that the independent and hard-working farmer, who does his own haying and keeps cows and riding horses, would like to be in a permanent home on his property before Thanksgiving.
