FARMINGTON – A Farmington man was injured Monday night when his motorcycle and a Jeep collided on High Street.
Police Sgt. Shane Cote said Clifford Audette, 38, of Farmington was riding a 1982 Harley-Davidson north around 5:45 p.m. when he collided head-on with a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Benjamin Marcellino, 16, of New Sharon headed south. Marcellino was making a left turn onto Maple Street when the two crashed, throwing Audette and his bike over the hood of the Jeep, he said.
Jennifer White, a medical assistant at Pine Tree Internal Medicine, said she witnessed the accident. White, who was on her way to work at the Franklin County Health Network booth at the fair, was stopped at the corner of Maple and High streets. She said Marcellino’s turn signal was blinking. She saw Audette, who she recognized, “fly into the air and land in the road.” She immediately got out of her car to help, she said.
“Please don’t let me die. Call my wife,'” she said Audette told her.
Audette was taken by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital and transferred to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. A report on his condition was not available late Monday night.
Marcellino was sitting on the side of the road with his head between his knees, rocking, but he did not appear to be injured.
