HARTFORD – The Planning Board signed a deed Tuesday night that gives the town an easement over Pine Shores Association land to the town beach on Canton Lake.
The signing comes three months after the town voted to give the residents of the development trash pickup service and the association then gave the town a key to the locked gates on the beach.
The 50-lot Pine Shores subdivision was developed by Patten Corp. in the late 1980s and received Planning Board approval in 1990. In an agreement with the town, the developer donated to the town five acres of lakeshore property, along with an 800-foot-long beach and a right of way to it. But emergency vehicle access to the lakefront was through the privately owned property and a series of locked gates.
