LEWISTON – Gertrude A. Fournier of Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 20, with her family at her side.

She was born at Ste. Marie Beauce, Quebec, on Aug. 6, 1916, the daughter of Gedeon and Celina Drouin Jalbert. She was educated in the Auburn school system.

She was married to Maurice B. Fournier; he passed away in 1971. She worked most of her life at the Bates Mill and for her husband, who was a furrier.

She was a member of Holy Cross Church and also the Holy Cross Senior Citizens, prior to her illness. She loved to cook, play the piano and entertain at family gatherings. In later years, she enjoyed going to Florida in the winters while taking care of the Rev. Antonio Gendron. Over the years, she has made many friends and will be sadly missed.

Survivors include two sons, Normand A. Fournier and his wife, Sandra, of Lewiston, and Gerald P. Fournier and his wife, Ann, of Wales; a daughter, Judy Woodcock and her husband, Bill, of Tyler, Texas; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Jalbert; and two sisters, Germaine Martel of Auburn and Corrine Dupere of Pennsylvania.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Pete and Arthur Jalbert; and three sisters, Antoinette Poisson, Julliette Bilodeau and Eva Chasse.
