South Lewiston LL wrap-up meeting

Soccer Shootout Sunday
RUMFORD – There will be a soccer shootout for all boys and girls 13-and-under this Sunday, Sept. 25. The event at Hosmer Field is sponsored by Rumford Elks #862. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with competition at 9 o’clock. Parents must accompany their child to sign a consent form and provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate. Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each age group (7-under, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13). FMI, contact David or Debi Briggs at 364-2479.
Maine Hoops clinic, leagues scheduled
SACO – Maine Hoops Basketball Club will host a speed, agility and quickness camp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 25, at Howard Sports Complex, just off the Maine Turnpike. Icebox Athlete will bring its nationally known program to Maine, giving athletes cutting edge instruction on physical issues as well as specialized training in winning composure and mental skills and toughness. Also, Maine Hoops is sponsoring women’s and men’s basketball leagues starting October along with middle school and high school teams. A third- and fourth-grade travel league will begin in November. Contact Holmes or go to www.maineaaubasketball.com.
Presidential Road Race Oct. 8 in Kennebunkport
KENNEBUNKPORT – Kennebunk Rotary Club and Sportshoe Center will present the 14th annual five-mile Presidential Road Race and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 8. The race was traditionally held in the spring, so longtime participants should note the new date. Beginning and ending in Kennebunkport, the race course is one of the the most stunning in the northeast, passing along beautiful wooded and beach portions with ocean and foliage views.
All runners must register and pick up race packets at the Consolidated School, 25 School Street, in Kennebunkport. You may also register online at www.presidentialroadrace.com or www.active.com. The fun run begins at 9:15 a.m., with the 5-miler at 10 a.m. Start-finish line is at the school. Net proceeds from the event will benefit many local organizations through the Rotary.
