WAYNE – Marie I. DeMillo Gile, 58, died at her home on Monday, Sept. 19, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on April 25, 1947, in Livermore Falls, a daughter of Americus “Sonny” and Theresa (Filteau) DeMillo. She was a graduate of Jay High School’s Class of 1965.

She married William “Bill” Gile on Aug. 19, 1967, at St. Mary’s Church in Wilton. They lived in Jay and moved to Indianapolis, Ind., in 1974, returning to Maine in 1979, where they made their home in Wayne.

She had been employed by G.H. Bass in Wilton, Spaulding Sporting Goods in Indianapolis, American Business Systems in Winthrop and Phillips-Van Heusen in Wilton.

She enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with family.

She is survived by her devoted husband of Wayne; two brothers and their wives, Mark and Yvonne DeMillo, and Nick and Nadine DeMillo, all of Jay; four sisters and their husbands, Anne and Rick Desjardins of Esko, Minn., Aurelie and Doug Merrill of Livermore, Judy and Harold Redman of Canton, and Carmel DeMillo of Industry; sister-in-law, Bernadette DeMillo of Jay; sister-in-law, Molly Jackman of Fayette; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Merle and Carol Gile of Wayne; and many special nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Anthony “Tony” DeMillo.
