TEMPLE – The U.S. Postal Service is looking for a new site for the post office in Temple.

The existing building is too small, Kathleen Walker, a real estate specialist with the Postal Service, said Tuesday from Connecticut.

“We need a larger building with more adequate parking,” Walker said.

They are seeking to lease or buy an existing building for a post office, or land where a new one would be built, she said.

The property must be of suitable size to accommodate a building of about 1,000 net interior square feet and have ample parking for customers and employees on a site of about a half-acre.

The property must be in compliance with all applicable building codes and land-use regulations. It also must be in a suitably zoned area for a post office, or the site must be capable of being rezoned for use as a post office.

There has been some interest, and the Postal Service is seeking more offers before it makes a choice, she said.
