Dear Sun Spots: I’m hoping someone can tell me if the Bangor Fair was ever called the Central Maine Fair or if not, where the Central Maine Fair was located? I have a photo of my grandfather taken in 1907 at the Bangor Fair. I also have a blue ribbon he won in 1907 with “Central Maine Fair” printed on it. He did go to many fairs. – No Name, No Town.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, it appears that in Jan. 1960, the Central Maine Fair Association began leasing the Maine State Fair Grounds in Lewiston.

Sun Spots also understands that it appears the Central Maine Fair officially opened in Waterville in 1904.

Dear Sun Spots: You have helped me many times and I thank you. I am trying to find a tin knight that stands about 52″ tall. He has a shield and full face helmet. Made out of light weight tin. Dear Sun Spots: Many Red Hat chapters over the past couple of weeks have been requesting information about the upcoming Red Hat luncheon. I would like to get my e-mail – [email protected] and Ebay listing – clem2kjd out to these groups as I sell Red Hat apparel. I decorate shirts, shirts sets, dresses, cardigan sets and many other items of clothing. I do not have a store. I display my items at festivals and craft shows. However, they can be shown to any Red Hatter interested in buying a new outfit for the luncheon or for any get together. Thank you. I am Clem Clements and can be reached at (207) 784-7748. – Clem Clements, Lewiston.
