WALES – Four proposed amendments to the town charter will be the subject of a public hearing at 6 p.m. Oct. 3 at the town office.

The changes call for selectmen to appoint the town clerk, treasurer, tax collector and road commissioner, instead of the current system in which those officials are elected by voters.

The amendments will be voted on by ballot Nov. 8.
