NORWAY – Brad Boos’ proposed campground on Wiley Road received nods of approval from the Planning Board on Thursday night for meeting all site review standards.
Boos said he will open the 30-lot site in 2007.
The Harrison resident said he expects his campground to be a hit with tourists because campgrounds farther south, especially around Sebago Lake, are rapidly being subdivided and sold as housing lots.
“Campgrounds are disappearing,” he said after the meeting, a smile lingering as a result of the board’s sanction of his project.
He said he talks to a lot of people out-of-state who cannot afford staying at fancy camps for two weeks, and who would rather vacation in more simple accommodations.
Boos said he will start building his 40-acre site in spring, creating 30 lots for recreational vehicles, tents and trailers.
He also will construct a shower building and septic system, and will improve the roads.
He said he vows never to develop the site into a housing subdivision.
“I might put one house in there for me,” he said.
