SWEDEN – Excessive speed is suspected as the cause of a crash that claimed the life of a 23-year-old Fryeburg man.
Brett Thibodeau of 406 Fish St., Fryeburg, died at the scene after the 2003 Subaru Legacy he was driving struck a tree on Lovell Road early Friday night.
According to State Police records, Thibodeau was driving west at an excessive speed when the car crested a hill and became airborne. The car struck a tree head-on, then rolled until it hit another tree.
Police said Thibodeau died of blunt-force trauma.
Thibodeau was employed at his family’s business – Green Thumb Farms – as head of sales. He was a Class of 2000 graduate of Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., and a member of its varsity crew and ski teams.
The crash was reported at 7:15 p.m. Friday. Trooper Lucas Hare is investigating.
