Where is Gov. Baldacci? Has anyone seen the governor? The Maine people need his help; not the poor, not the rich, but the working poor – Maine’s so-called middle class.

I heard that there was a request to have the state gas tax suspended for 90 days, but that was shot down because it wouldn’t solve any long-term problems and would just send a message to big oil saying “Don’t worry, price gouge some more.”

Baldacci’s energy adviser suggested that people conserve fuel by carpooling, checking tire pressure, buying fuel-efficient cars and by installing replacement windows.

Let’s see, if I favor suspending the gas tax then I cannot afford a fancy hybrid, and I can’t afford replacement windows. I sure will take all that into consideration. She then went on to say that the suspension would only cause a shortfall in the budget because that money is needed for the highway fund.

My question is, when is that money going to be used for the roads instead of being mismanaged and put into the General Fund? It’s amazing that money always shows up to fund Baldacci’s failed socialist health care system, but when every Maine citizen can benefit, Baldacci tucks his tail and runs. I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said, “Save Maine, impeach Baldacci.” I couldn’t agree more.
