LEWISTON – Chanel “Blackie” L. Michaud, 69, formerly of 91 Avenue Road, Wales, died Monday, Sept. 26, at d’Youville Pavilion following a long illness.

He was born in Edmonston, New Brunswick, on Oct. 10, 1935, the son of Ernest and Marie (Levesque) Michaud, and was a resident of this community most of his life.

He was owner and operator of Blackie’s Home Heating in Wales and was a member of the Acme Club.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He married the former Doris Daigle on March 18, 1994; she died on Aug. 13, 2003.

He is survived by one son, Ronald Michaud and his wife, Giselle, of Medway; three daughters, Diane Labrecque and her husband, Gary, of Wales, Doris Webster of Lewiston and Linda Gagnon of Sabattus; three sisters, Dora Hensley and Theresa Bishop, both of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Laurette Chasse and her husband, Rene, of Southington, Conn.; a brother-in-law, Gilman Clavette of Millinocket; seven grandchildren, Andrea and Travis Dyer, Matthew and Cody Michaud, Ryan and James Toothaker, and Luke Gagnon; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Rachel Clavette.
