MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – Two colleges that received donations from Tyco International Ltd. while Dennis Kozlowski was in charge say the gifts were not tainted by his misdeeds.
Kozlowski was convicted in June on first-degree grand larceny and several other counts and was sentenced to up to 25 years in prison. He and another executive were convicted of looting the company of nearly $600 million.
But the University of New Hampshire, which got $3 million from the company, says the gift was from Tyco, not Kozlowski. The money pays for scholarships and a fellowship in ocean mapping.
Officials at Saint Anselm College say their $1 million gift also came from the company, not its former chief executive. The money is used for scholarships.
