RUMFORD – Rumford Hospital, Elsemore Dixfield Center and Swift River Health Care are banding together to offer a Women’s Breast and Cervical Health Day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 27.
This is an opportunity for eligible women to join the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program through making an appointment for free services.
Gynecologist Dr. Gary Baldwin, Swift River Health Care, will provide physical exams, including pap smears, and the Rumford Hospital Mammography unit will do free mammograms. The exams are provided free annually thereafter through the Breast and Cervical Health Program.
Women are being encouraged to inquire if they are eligible for the program, even if they are not able to make an appointment, by calling 1-800-350-5180 and pressing number 1. A program representative will help callers determine if they are eligible for the free program.
At noon, the public is invited to a luncheon presentation by Dr. Gary Baldwin, gynecologist, and Kathi Varney, nurse practitioner from the Bennett Breast Care Center. The two will discuss women’s health issues and breast care. Women who wish to attend the luncheon must call Pam Bentley at 369-0146 to register.
