SAN DIEGO (AP) – Barry Bonds hit his 708th home run on Tuesday night, a three-run, opposite-field shot in the first inning of San Francisco’s game against the San Diego Padres.

Bonds, third on the all-time list, has hit five homers since coming making his season debut on Sept. 12, against San Diego.

Bonds needs seven homers to pass Babe Ruth (714) for second on the all-time list.

Hank Aaron leads with 755.

Bonds drove a 1-0 pitch from Adam Eaton into the seats in left field.

Bonds has 81 career homers against the Padres, his most against any team, and his 41 in San Diego are his most in any road city.
