The Sept. 26 letter to the editor from Carole Levesque repeats the allegation, often made by various officials and by friends of Sarah Cherry’s family, that the book “Human Sacrifice” is rife with inaccuracies and omissions.

None of these critics, however, has ever specified a single inaccuracy or false statement related to the case or the events reported in “Human Sacrifice.”

It’s flatly dishonest to make this phony allegation again and again. Nor does it speak well that some people oppose a new trial for Dennis Dechaine – one where a jury hears all the evidence.

It’s always been my understanding that Mainers favor honesty and a fair trial.
