STRATHAM, N.H. – Paula E. Carter of 82 Montrose Drive, formerly of Augusta, died peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 29, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Monroeville, N.J., in 1946, the daughter of Harold and Ella Carter. The family moved to Augusta in 1946 shortly after her birth. Paula graduated from Cony High School in 1965.
She worked at Hallowell Shoe for a period of time. She left Maine in 1965, and moved to New Hampshire, where she lived the remainder of her life. She worked as a spray painter at Bailey Venture for 20 years in Seabrook, N.H. Her favorite pastime was playing golf and reading. She was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. She was greatful she got to see her teams win championships.
She is survived by her halfsister, Mary Staples of Augusta; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Paula had many friends from the ladies of the sisterhood, although not all can be mentioned. Her wish was to mention a few because they were like her family; Beth Dennis, Kim St. Hilaire, Trudy Gerrier, Fern Leslie, T. and Sharron, Debbie Miller, Pam Monroe, and all her Myrtle Beach golf group.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her father, Harold Carter; mother, Ella Carter; and a younger sister, Kathy Carter of Lewiston.
