Domestic abuse

PARIS – The first Oxford County Domestic Abuse Task Force will meet from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the Forum at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, 256 Main St., South Paris. The goal is to bring together community members from all walks of life to seek ways of ending domestic abuse. For more information, call Carol Perkins, Oxford Hills advocate, at 743-5806.

Harvest exercise

NORWAY – A harvest celebration, featuring free samples of fresh cooked food, will be served from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct 6, at the Norway Farmer’s Market at Longley’s parking lot.

Church sale

PARIS – The South Paris Universalist Church at 36 Pine St. will hold its annual fall rummage sale from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 8, in the Good Cheer Hall. A bag sale will run from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. There will be kitchen items, clothing, yard goods, tools, furniture, jewelry and winter jackets and coats.

Society speaker

WATERFORD – The Waterford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, in the meeting room at the Waterford Municipal Center on Valley Road.

Guest speaker will be Sawin Millett, a lifelong Waterford resident. He will speak on his Waterford roots and how they stirred him to become involved in government. He will also discuss the evolvement of town meetings, including highlights of his experience as moderator of the Waterford town meetings. The public is welcome. There will be a short business meeting at the beginning and a potluck dessert will follow Millett’s presentation.

Center open house

NORWAY – The Progress Center, a nonprofit agency that provides social services for adults and children with developmental disabilities and mental health issues, will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at 35 Cottage St. There will be tours of the facilities, refreshments, door prize, raffle and bounce house for children. All are welcome.

Craft fair set

BOLSTERS MILLS – A Bayberry Craft Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church. There will be jewelry, pottery, quilts, Halloween and Christmas items, handmade rugs and unusual crafts. Refreshments and lunch will be available. Proceeds benefit the Bolsters Mills Ladies Guild Scholarship Fund.

Bridge results

NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Bridge Club met Sept. 30 at the Fare Share Commons, Main Street, for a 4-table Howell movement game. Finishing first in flight A were Anna Cormier and Woody Mercier, with Dick Allen and Pete Cummings coming in second. Third were Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements. Finishing first in flight B were Barbara and Paul Beegel with Eleanor Griffin and Baily Geeslin, second.

Another game will be held Friday, Oct. 7, same time and location. All bridge players welcome. For information call Les Buzzell 783-4153.
