JAY – Town Manager Ruth Marden said she spoke to Ray Pineau on Monday on the telephone, and that he is doing well.
Pineau, a Jay selectman and Democratic state representative, had a stroke Aug. 24 and has been recovering. He has been doing intensive therapy.
He is still in the Bangor area and expects to be home in about two weeks, Marden said Monday.
“He is doing great. His spirits are so good,” she said.
“I said to him, I miss you, Ray.’ He said, I will be back,'” Marden said. She got teary-eyed when he said that, she said.
Pineau, who has served as selectmen for several years, is in his third term as a state lawmaker.
Selectmen Chairman Bill Harlow said last week that Pineau had been walking with a cane and talking in whispers.
