LACONIA, N.H. (AP) – A Laconia man is charged with pushing his girlfriend from a third-floor window during an argument during the weekend.

Laura Sister, 24, suffered head injuries, bruises and several fractures, police said. She remained hospitalized in critical condition Monday at Lakes Region General Hospital and required hip-replacement surgery.

Officers found her when they responded to a reported domestic dispute at apartments above Laconia’s Colonial Theater just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

Officers spoke with a man who left the apartment, but when they went inside to speak to his girlfriend, they found an open window in the rear and saw her bleeding on the ground below, next to a broken screen and curtains from the apartment window.

Joshua Knight, 27, is charged with assault.
