Men’s club

PHILLIPS – The Phillips Men’s Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Community House. Team 3 with Captain Jerry Haines and members Steve Haines and Steve Smith will serve.

WILTON – The Friendship Squares Square Dance Club will hold a dance at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Cushing School. Caller will be Marty VanWart and Round Dance Cuer will be Linda Moulton.

Church sale

JAY- The Seventh-day Adventist Church will hold a yard sale at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at the church on the corner of Oak Street and Route 4.

Help for seniors

PHILLIPS – SeniorsPlus will provide assistance filling out tax and rent rebate applications to senior citizens on Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Phillips Public Library.

Dot Haggan, one of SeniorsPlus’s trained volunteers, will also offer assistance applying for financial help with the prescription drug benefit that is part of Medicare changes going into effect Jan. 1.

Anyone interested in receiving this assistance should call Dot Haggan at 639-4255 for an appointment and to get a list of paperwork to bring along. SeniorsPlus is the area agency on aging serving Franklin, Oxford and Androscoggin counties.

Seniors who would like a “check-up” to see if there are other benefits they might qualify for may call an elder services specialist at SeniorsPlus at 1-800-427-1241.
