AUBURN – Central Maine Community College will offer two workshops for the professional: “Make Meetings Work” (CCS 025-01) from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, and “Master Your Time” (CCS 085-01) from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Nov. 1. The cost of each workshop is $65 and includes materials.
Studies have shown that many managers spend 17 to 22 hours a week in meetings. Meetings can be an effective way to share information, solve problems, generate new ideas, develop new products and services and build relationships.
“Make Meetings Work” is designed to help make the most of the time spent in meetings. Through presentation, discussion and practice, participants will learn skills to help meetings become effective.
The workshop will cover how to identify when to call a meeting, outlining a powerful agenda and meeting format, how to identify challenging situations and participants, practicing skills for successful facilitation, how to maximize the involvement of participants and writing an action plan to obtain accountability.
“Master Your Time” will examine how participants currently prioritize and use their time by developing techniques to help handle opposing demands, create more time for important tasks and decrease their stress level.
The workshop will cover identifying time stealers, developing and monitoring daily activities, eliminating the biggest time wasters and helping others better manage their time.
Both will be facilitated by Ken O’Brien, owner and founder of Computer Quest in Woolwich. His experience includes 15 years as a consultant and has served businesses throughout New England with training in customer service, sales, supervision and computers.
