SALEM – Nate Armstrong rocketed a 40-yard shot that found the upper corner of the net to notch the only goal that Monmouth would need for a 1-0 win over Mt. Abram Wednesday afternoon.

Armstrong’s goal came at 22:30 into the game. The Mustangs (9-2-1) held on to their 1-0 win, with solid goalkeeping action from Scott Ogden, who turned aside 19 shots.

Mt. Abram (4-6-2) controlled most of the contest, including shots on goal with 20-13, and corner kicks, 5-0.

Livermore 0, Winthrop 0

WINTHROP – The Winthrop squad nearly doubled up on scoring opportunities as the Ramblers outshot Livermore 15-8 in a double overtime 0-0 tie in MVC boys’ soccer action Wednesday.

The Ramblers (3-6-3) even outpaced the Andies (0-9-2) in corner kicks with a 9-2 margin.

Winthrop goalie Mike Gingras and Livermore goalie Derek Neal recorded a shutout each with eight and 15 saves respectively.

St. Dom’s 4, Gray-New Gloucester 1

GRAY – Jimmy Moreau netted a pair of back-to-back goals at the start of the second half, leading St. Dom’s to a 4-1 win over Gray-New Gloucester Wednesday.

The first Saints’ (4-7-1) goal was tallied by Ben Randall 23 minutes into the game. Greg Barlion rounded out the scoring, while Andrew Gilbert recorded two assists.

Ben White was credited with the Gray/New Gloucester (1-8-1) goal. John Lavaseur was strong in net for the Patriots’ effort, making 11 saves.

Hebron 5, Carrabassett Valley 0

HEBRON – Ben Jessome and Sung-Jae Chang scored a pair of goals apiece to lead Heborn to a 5-0 win over Carrabassett Valley in boys’ soccer action Wednesday.

The Huskies (4-1-1) received offensive support from T.J. Thayer, who contributed a goal and an assist.

Goalie Ryder Hochman made 15 saves for CVA, while Dmytro Naida turned back three for Hebron in the win.
