MOUNT WASHINGTON, N.H. (AP) – The temperature at the top of New England on Mount Washington rose to 62 degrees Wednesday, a record for October.
The National Weather Service said the previous record-high October temperature was 59 degrees, registered on Oct. 12 and 13, 1938.
The highest temperature atop the 6,288-foot mountain of 72 degrees was noted on June 26, 2003 and on Aug. 2, 1975.
