BETHEL – The Bethel Historical Annual Fund Committee, chaired by Trustee John B. Head with members Alden Kennett, Arlan Jodrey, Dorothy Bartlett and Danna Nickerson, has launched the 2005 Annual Fund Campaign.

Last year’s campaign was the most successful raising a record $24,278 with 452 donors. Proceeds from these gifts help the society strengthen its programming and exhibits as well assisting in maintaining buildings and collections.

To date more than $11,000 from 167 donors has been received.

Gifts to the society are tax deductible as allowable by law and may be given in any amount and in a variety of ways, be it cash, stock, personal property, securities or bonds. Those wanting further information should call the society at (800) 824-2908 or (207) 824-2908.

All gifts should be sent to the society at P.O. Box 12, Bethel, ME 04217-0012.

More than 1,300 members strong, the society was founded in 1966. For nearly 40 years, the society’s activities have included lectures, exhibits, special events, heritage festivals, workshops, conferences, school and educational programs, and publications. Since 1974, the society has operated from its Broad Street headquarters, the Dr. Moses Mason House, a period house museum and research library. In 1999, it opened the O’Neil Robinson House (next door at 10 Broad St.) to the public for an expanded exhibit program, museum shop space, and administrative offices. Through the years, the Society’s achievements have been recognized by a number of state and national organizations.
