The buying power of the middle class is being eroded fast. People have to buy gas to go to work, they need fuel to heat their homes, groceries in order to exist. It leaves very little for clothing, furniture and other necessities from the paycheck, so retailers are going to be hurt even if they give large discounts.

We need a Harry Truman to lead our nation. He would give a tax cut to all people making less and tax the wealthy double. That would help the economy. With manufacturing going overseas for cheap, good jobs are becoming much less available.

The government will have to create jobs like it did in the 1930s – Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration for older men so they can put bread on the table.
