GRAY – Brittney Humphrey netted two goals and added three assists to pace Gray-New Gloucester to a 6-3 victory over Poland in a WMC girls’ soccer matchup on Thursday.

Jen Farynaz also scored two goals, while Emma Lobozzo and Soreil Riley also tallied to complete the scoring.

Katie Lindquist, Brianna Pratte and Tori Hricko all scored goals for the Knights.

Dirigo 0, Lisbon 0

LISBON – Double overtime proved to be fruitless as Dirigo and Lisbon drew to a 0-0 tie in a MVC soccer girls’ matchup on Thursday.

The two teams battled through two overtimes in a defensive battle that went back and forth throughout the contest. Dirigo (7-2-2) was led by Shannon Daley, while Lisbon’s (6-3-3) efforts were paced by Soleil Mathieu and Ashley Mason.

Winthrop 1, Mountain Valley 0

RUMFORD – Katherine Fortin tallied the only goal Winthrop would need to top Mountain Valley in a girls’ soccer matchup on Thursday afternoon.

Fortin gathered the ball in front of the net after a cross from outside bounced off the goal post and rocketed it into the net.

Katie Pushard made eight saves for the Ramblers (6-3-2), while the Falcons’ (1-7-3) Karri McPherson stopped 18 shots.

Field hockey

Gardiner 5, EL 1

GARDINER – Jessica Fish tallied both the first and last goal of the Gardiner effort, leading her team to a 5-1 victory over Edward Little Thursday in field hockey action.

Although Edward Little got on the board first 5:07 into the contest off a goal by Breanna Wing, Gardiner tied the game 10 minutes later before scoring four unanswered goals in the rest of the contest.

Becky Dixon capitalized on a penalty stroke, while Alex Fish and Courtney Zillen each netted a first-half goal for the Tigers (11-0-1).

The Eddies’ (5-8) defensive effort was led by sweeper Elise Perkins.

St. Dom’s 5, Waynflete 0

AUBURN – Elisha Dorso recorded a hat trick Thursday to pace St. Dom’s to a 5-0 victory over Waynflete in a WMC field hockey matchup on Thursday.

Mary Lewis and Chelsea St. Onge also tallied for Brian Kay’s powerhouse Saints (10-2) to complete the scoring. Hannah Wiley and Michela Fyler contributed with assists. Austyn Carolin stood between the posts, needing nary a save to notch the shutout.

Caroline Schwell handled goaltending duties for the Flyers (1-10), turning away an impressive 29 shots fired in her direction.

Messalonskee 1, Oxford Hills 0

SOUTH PARIS – Melissa Oliver found the back of the net just over six minutes into the first half to lift Messalonskee to a 1-0 victory over Oxford Hills in a KVAC field hockey matchup on Thursday.

Amanda Baker and Lauren Veilleux contributed with assists for the Eagles (8-4-1), while Beth Ridley made 14 saves in net to record the shutout.

Aleksys Pike handled netkeeping duties for the Vikings (6-7), turning aside eight shots.
