We need to change our federal tax code. We need to abolish the IRS and pass Fair Tax legislation in the U.S. House and Senate.
Under the Fair Tax legislation, we would pay no income taxes, Social Security taxes, Medicare taxes, self-employment taxes, estate taxes, gift taxes, corporate taxes, business taxes or interest-income taxes. We would take home all our wages
The fair tax is a consumption tax set at 23 percent on all new goods and services. Anything bought used would not be taxable.
Taxpayers would receive a check from the government at the beginning of each month to cover the consumption taxes on life’s basic necessities.
Corporations would return to the U.S., and more corporations would move to the U.S. to do business without corporate taxes. That would create more jobs.
Those operating in the underworld and shadow economies would finally have to pay their share of taxes.
No more filing yearly tax returns, where if we made a mistake, here comes the IRS with fines, penalties, fees and interest.
We would need to keep our eyes on Congress to make sure that our elected officials didn’t raise the consumption tax. It should be lowered as time goes by.
I believe the 23 percent consumption tax would generate as much, if not more, money than the present tax code, with very little paperwork. The big difference is that taxpayers get to keep more of their money for savings, or to buy more of what they want.
