GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Walter D. “Pete” Peterson, 74, of Mapleton, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 2, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, N.C.

He was born in Akeley, Minn., on July 11, 1931, the son of Carl and Lilabelle (Vornum) Peterson.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Jones, and her husband, Bill, of Lewiston; two sons, Kevin of Goldsboro, N.C., and Karl of Mount Olive, N.C.; a granddaughter, Amanda and her fiance, Corey, and a grandson, Matthew, all of Auburn; two sisters, Ruth Sustad of Viking, Minn., and Janice Adams of Weeks Mills; and a brother, George of Brooklyn Heights, Minn.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Pauline (Hoffses) Peterson; his parents; and three brothers, Lewis, Linus and Harry “Bud” Peterson.
