AUBURN – Joseph and Jeannine Chabot of Auburn recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a special weekend at Bar Harbor hosted by their children, Marc (Aisha), Daniel (Corinne) and Donald (Kim) Chabot and Patrice (Tom) Griffin. The grandchildren also helped, Matthew, Bennett, Luc and Natasha Chabot, and Connor, Renee and Claire Griffin.

The following weekend, a Mass of thanksgiving was held at Holy Cross Church, followed by a reception at the Carriage House. The Mass was concelebrated by brothers of the couple, the Revs. Robert and Roger Chabot and Maurice Morin.

The couple renewed their vows at the same altar where they were married on Aug. 27, 1955. The original maid of honor, Rachel Picard Lapointe, and best man, Raymond Morin, served as attendants. Music was provided by family members and close friends, Patrice Griffin, Matthew and Bennett Chabot, Raymond Morin, Mercedes Gastonguay and Kathy Brooks.

Marc Chabot served as master of ceremonies for the reception, which consisted of a social hour, dinner and dancing. Various speakers talked about highlights of the couple’s life and a video detailed many segments of their courtship and 50 years of marriage. Guests attended from Quebec, Florida, Rhode Island, Illinois, New Hampshire, Connecticut and all over Maine.

Mr. Chabot is retired from Etonic, where he was vice president of manufacturing. Mrs. Chabot, the former Jeannine Morin, is retired from the banking and real estate industries.
