I have read the coverage of Hurricane Katrina and how “race played a role in the way the response was perceived.” Some people believe that whites were treated better than blacks.
I think that someone should have done something more about this situation, or maybe the government should have acted a lot quicker than it did. I think the reason why it didn’t react quickly is because most of the people these days are still racial.
I think that if President Bush was a good president, he would help whoever needed help in this country. Instead of doing something, he waited until it was too late and then tried to act quickly like he was trying to help people. I think that the only reason why he did anything is because he didn’t want the country to be angry with him and because there were some rich white people involved. He should have acted sooner because now there are many people dead because they couldn’t get the help that they needed.
We are all people, and we should all get equal treatment in this country. One of our laws or policies is that everyone gets equally treated. Even though it is supposed to be that way, sometimes it isn’t. If we were the country people say we are, then more than a thousand people wouldn’t have died in that hurricane.
