Genealogists meet

FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter, Maine Genealogical Society, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Farmington Public Library.

Program topics will be plantations and de-organized towns, who were the early settlers and where are the records of Salem Township, Dallas Plantation, Rangeley Plantation and Sandy River Plantation.

Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome.

Craft fair

FARMINGTON – Curves will host a Member Appreciation Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at 189 Main St.

All kinds of crafts will be sold from woodworking, icefishing traps, scrapbooking, basket weaving, paintings, reflexology/massage, acupuncture to homemade jams and jellies, candles and baked goods.

Door prizes will be awarded. All are welcome.

Basket bingo

FARMINGTON – Longaberger Baskets Basket Bingo will be held on Sunday, Oct. 16. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m., and bingo will start at 1 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, School Street. Lunch/refreshments will be available and there will be door prizes and raffles. For tickets or more information, call the lodge at 778-6761 or Shannon at 778-4726.

Performance

TEMPLE – “When Pigs Fly” will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14 and 15, at the Temple Stream Theater, Intervale Road. Performance will include puppets, masks, music, stilts and stories by Michael Cooper, Susan Scheel, Richard Joseph, Kathryn and John Sytsma and choir.

There will also be a Haitian art sale following each show featuring the work of several Haitian artists.

Harvest dinner

FARMINGTON – A harvest dinner and dance will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Elks Lodge, School Street. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and a dance will follow from 7 to 11 p.m.

Music will be by the Travelers for $25 a couple, members and guest. Farmington Emblem Club 460 is sponsoring the event. For tickets, call 778-4726 or visit Mickey’s.
