Church sacrament

AUBURN – The Sacrament of the Anointing will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Sacred Heart Church, corner of Minot and Western avenues. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will be celebrated also. Following the service, light refreshments will be served in the parish hall (downstairs.)

The church is wheelchair accessible. The parish hall is also, by using the elevator at the rear of the church. The entrance to the parking lot off Western Avenue. All are invited.

Christian concert

LEWISTON – A Christian music concert by Cornerstone will be offered at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Holy Cross Church hall. The event, sponsored by the Holy Cross Senior Citizens, is open to everyone.

Cornerstone is a group of musicians who have come together from various denominations. They have been together for almost two years and have performed at coffee houses and occasionally at worship services throughout Central Maine. More information is available at their Web site: www.cornerstonesingers.org. There is no admission fee, but a free will offering will be accepted.

Blood drive

GRAY – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the American Legion Hall, 15 Lewiston Road. Contact Dick Prince at 428-3737 or e-mail at [email protected] to give approximate time to donate. Walk-ins are welcome.

AARP speaker

LEWISTON – The Androscoggin Chapter 4077, AARP, will meet Monday, Oct. 17, at the Multi-Purpose Center. The board of directors will meet at 12:30 p.m.

The speaker will be Anita Wiles, whose subject will be “Prescription coverage under Medicare.” Wiles has been working for Seniors Plus over 20 years. She oversees our Medicare Education Partnership and is an Elder Services Professional.

Anyone age 50 and over is invited to join the organization. Attendance and pot-of-gold drawings will be held and refreshments served.

Bridge winners

AUBURN – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at Schooner Estates on Oct. 10 were: first, Martine Begert and Jeanine Kivus; second, Helen Little and Alberta Turner; third, Paul Beegel and Roger Briggs; fourth, Lucille Bilodeau and Luke Merry; fifth, Della Starbird and Eileen Potvin, first in C; Linda Leotsakos and Nancy Glusker, second in C.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays at the Multi-Purpose Center, 45 Birch St., Lewiston, a mini-lesson is given, and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 783-1734 for more information.

Cemetery group

AUBURN – The North Auburn Cemetery Association will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the home of Harry Walker, Lake Shore Drive. Anyone interested is invited.
