Six students at Elm Street School in Mechanic Falls were invited to the awards banquet at the St. Peter & Sacred Heart School on May 24, sponsored by the Sun Journal Academic Advocate.
Elm Street school is proud to announce that Natasha Piirainin, Chelsea Pickett, Brittany Groves and Alexa Doyer all received the John M. Robinson Honorable Mention Award for their contributions to the Academic Advocate during the 2004-05 school year. Our school submitted over 50 articles. The Academic Advocate is a weekly subsection ( Editor’s note: It is now a biweekly publication) of the Sun Journal written for and by middle and high school students. The Elm Street School writers are coached by Ms. Karen Downing, ETS teacher. Mr. Leo Baillargeon is the editor of the Academic Advocate.
