RUMFORD – Rose C. Buccina, 90, of Smithville, died in Rumford on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Rumford Community Home.

She was born in Rumford on Nov. 23, 1914, a daughter of Joseph and Concetta (Paparati) Curato Sr., and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford in the Class of 1934.

She had been employed in Rumford at Oxford Paper Co. in the finishing department and after 22 years retired from the utility crew in 1975.

She was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John Church, a former member of LeParesseux Snowshoe Club and member of Rumford Falls Aerie 1248, F.O.E. Auxiliary.

She was devoted to her family, loved the piano, knitting, beano, country music, long walks and enjoyed helping her elderly family and friends.

She was married in Rumford to the late Joseph N. Buccina; he died in Rumford on April 2, 1953.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet Clawson of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; two sons, Peter Buccina of Mexico, and Robert Buccina and wife, Sue, of Wiscassett; three sisters, Philomena Brown of Gorham, Antoinette Bill and husband, Thomas, of Old Orchard Beach, and Esther Drouin of Rumford; two brothers, Frank Curato of Walton Beach, Fla., and Joseph Curato Jr., of Randolph; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Buccina Jr.; a sister, Alice Sullivan; and five brothers, Patrick, John, James, Larry and Dominic “Chick” Curato.
