Variety show

GREENE – The Grange will hold its annual variety show at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, with a country western theme. Tickets are available at the door for $5. There will be a snack shop open during intermission with hot dogs, chips, drinks and baked goods for sale. Funds raised will help provide funds for projects through the year. Post meeting

LISBON – VFW Post 9459 and Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the post home, Route 196. The house committee will meet at 6. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. Agenda items include the Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen Program and gathering items to send to troops.

The post is also planning a benefit spaghetti supper from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. Menu will include spaghetti, bread, salad, dessert, coffee or tea. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10. Proceeds will benefit the town’s public works director and his family. If unable to attend the supper, donations will be accepted. Deadline for reservations is Monday, Oct. 17.

A Halloween potluck supper and dance will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29. Cost of the potluck supper is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10. The supper will also include dessert, coffee or tea. Serving will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with the dance being held from 7 to 11. For more information, call 353-2152.

Fitness fair

LEWISTON – A fall fitness health fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Marshwood, 33 Roger St. There will be free health screens, education, relaxation ideas, snacks and prizes. Call Candy Greenwood at 784-0108 for more information.

Fund-raising

AUBURN – Central Maine Community College is offering two workshops on fund-raising for local nonprofits. Board 101 will be presented from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, to show the role of a board and ways to increase communication with the nonprofit staff. Fundraising 101 will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, to cover principles based on decades of fund raising excellence. Dinner dance

LISBON – The Lisbon Falls Knights of Columbus will have a benefit potluck dinner dance on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Holy Trinity Church parish hall, Frost Hill Avenue. The meal will begin at 5 p.m. and dancing will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Participants should bring a favorite dish to feed up to four people, plus a dessert.

Live music will be provided by a member of Knights and friends. A freewill offering will be taken to help the Rev. Frank Morin of Calais, whose church was struck by lightning; everything was destroyed with the exception of a statue and chalices.

Card party

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens are sponsoring a card party from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the Lewiston Senior Citizens Activity Room, Multi-Purpose Center. There will be prizes, raffles, pot of gold and light refreshments. Cost is $3 a person. Bring cards, games and supplies.

Group meal

AUBURN – Modern Woodmen of America Camp 8794 is sponsoring a lunch/dinner at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Sam’s Italian Shoppe, Minot Avenue. Participants have a choice of pizza, spaghetti or an Italian sandwich with a soda for $3. Door prize will be awarded. Purchase tickets at the office, 67 Minot Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Guests are welcome.
