STRONG – Strong United Methodist Church has received F. Gary Hubley as its new pastor. He was appointed by the Rev. David Svenson, district superintendent, and Bishop Weaver to serve the parish.
Hubley and his wife served as missionaries in Liberia, Africa, from 1967 to 1969. He also has served churches in Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota. He was originally ordained by the Lutheran Church in America.
His most recent pastorate was at Old South Congregational UCC in Hallowell. During that time, he was trained as an interim minister by the Interim Ministry Network and subsequently served as interim minister at First Congregational UCC in Wiscasset.
“This is a beautiful area,” Hubley said, “and the people here are very friendly and down to earth. I’m excited about the potential this church has, and look forward to participating in community events.”
