LEWISTON – Gary Ralph Noyes, 56, of Auburn, formerly of the Wilton area, died Tuesday night, Oct. 11, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
He was born on Jan. 14, 1949, in Farmington, a son of Ralph M. and Dorothy M. (Boucher) Noyes. He graduated from Wilton Academy, where he was active in athletics as a member of the basketball, football and track teams. He continued his education at the University of Maine at Orono, earning a degree in business administration in 1971. He completed his certification in accounting in 1975 from Bentley College in Waltham, Mass.
On Jan. 13, 1973, he married Irene L. Duguay at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay.
From 1971 to 1978, he was employed at Burgess Shoe Co. He later worked for Quoddy Mocassin Corp., and at the U.S. Shoe Corp. From 1982 to 1994, he was employed by both Prudential Insurance Co., and Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.
In 1994, he and his family relocated to Maine where he was employed by ICT in Wilton and most recently, he had been employed as a customer service representative for City Street Division of City Corps Group in Lewiston.
He was a communicant of both St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Farmington and of Sacred Heart Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Andy Valley Chapter in Auburn, the Lewiston/Auburn Jaycees, and held a variety of both regional and district offices.
He was a sports enthusiast, an avid reader and enjoyed community activities and sharing in the company of family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Irene, of Auburn; their son, Christopher “Chris” of Auburn; his mother, Dorothy “Dot” Noyes of Wilton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Noyes, in 1991; and a baby brother, Ralph M. Noyes Jr., in 1945.
