Diamond Phoenix wins Wal-Mart machine contract

Lewiston – Diamond Phoenix received a contract to install 17 Vectura Storage & Retrieval Machines and a large pallet conveyor system for Wal-Mart in its new distribution center located off Alfred Plourde Parkway. Installation of the equipment began in August and will continue through November.

Storage and retrieval machines are used in warehouses to move large, heavy goods, such as pallets, paper reels and large bins, into and out of storage racks. Wal-Mart will use the SRMs in its warehouse to retrieve pallets. As customer orders are downloaded from the system, the SRM will deliver the required pallet to a conveyor below, where it will be transferred to the shipping department.

Larry Strayhorn, president of Diamond Phoenix, a full service provider of material handling systems, said this contract should open new markets for the company.
