LISBON FALLS – Seniors-Plus Medicare prescription drug specialist Amy MacMillan will present an informational session about the new Medicare prescription drug benefit from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Cooperative Extension Office, Main Street, Lisbon Falls. This presentation is open to the public and is free of charge. The new prescription drug benefit program will begin Jan. 1. It is open to anyone currently receiving Medicare.
“Many people have a lot of questions about this new drug benefit,” said MacMillan, “and SeniorsPlus wants to be certain that their questions get answered in a timely fashion. Also, there have been quite a few reports of fraud recently, so we’re helping seniors understand how to avoid being duped by unscrupulous marketers.”
Some of the most frequently asked questions that MacMillan will address are: Who is eligible for the prescription drug plans?; What are the costs to join a drug plan?; If I have Maine Care will I need a Medicare prescription drug plan?; and Where do I go to get help with all this?; And when should I sign up?
In addition to conducting information outreach throughout the area, MacMillan and SeniorsPlus volunteers will be available throughout the fall to help seniors understand the new benefit program and complete the enrollment process. For more information about the new Medicare prescription drug program contact MacMillan at SeniorsPlus at 795-4010 or 800-427-1241.
