AUBURN – Central Maine Community College will host an open forum on Question 1 from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the Kirk Hall Auditorium. The forum will be moderated by Dr. Karl Trautman, chairman of the social sciences department.

Question 1 on the Nov. 8 ballot seeks to overturn the gay rights law passed by state legislators this year.

Proponents of Question 1 will be represented by Steve Whiting, counsel to the Christian Civic League of Maine. Opponents will be represented by Portland attorney Patricia Peard of the group Maine Won’t Discriminate.
