PERU – Two men escaped injury Thursday afternoon when their vehicles collided at Route 108 and Main Street.

Oxford County Deputy Justin Brown said Ernest Holtzman, 80, of Rumford stopped at the stop sign, then attempted to enter North Main Street from Main Street. He apparently did not see a vehicle driven by Robert Perry, 38, of Peru as it was traveling east on Route 108.

Holtzman’s 1994 Ford pickup sustained about $4,000 damage. Perry’s 1995 van sustained about $5,000 damage, Brown said. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Med-Care Ambulance Service examined each driver. Members of the Peru Fire Department cleaned up the debris. Both drivers were wearing safety belts.
