LEWISTON – Laurier G. Ouellette, 83, of 156 Main St., 313 Roak Block, Auburn, died Friday, Oct. 14, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion, where he received comfort care for the past four weeks.
Born in Lewiston, Oct. 30, 1921, he was a son of Ernest and Josephine Dumais Ouellette. He was educated in Lewiston schools and attended Robert’s Academy.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant in the Phillipines.
He worked at Twin City Packing Co. and L & A Grocers prior to his retirement.
Mr. Ouellette was a former member of St. Mary’s Parish of Lewiston where he served on the parish council and was a member of the Sacred Heart League.
He also served on the supervisory committee of St. Mary’s Credit Union.
He belonged to the Auburn Catholic community at Sacred Heart Church.
He enjoyed playing cards, gardening and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, the former Fernande L. St. Pierre, of Auburn, whom he married May 17, 1947; three sons and their spouses, Rene and Marie Ouellette of Lewiston, Paul and Georgette Ouellette of Raymond, and Leo and Janet Ouellette of Turner; his grandchildren, Peter, David, Kevin, Evan and Bryan Ouellette, and Kellie Ouellette and her husband, Jason Moreau; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mom and dad; his sisters, Laurianne Duchette and Alpheda Madore; and a brother, Alphee Ouellette.
