Dear Sun Spots: We are seeking donations of used encyclopedias, dictionaries, educational software, educational games of all kinds, atlases, books, workbooks, etc. for a K-12 nonprofit organization. We are hoping for donations of more up-to-date items published within the last few years so they will be more timely for the children. Please contact Yvette Michaud at (207) 784-8758.

We also need board games for teenage/adolescent girls, part of a group home, especially software, books such as dictionaries, thesauruses, math and other education computer software. Anything educational and geared to these age groups would be greatly appreciated by us all. The computer software should be compatible with a personal computer. Also, might any of your readers have a used PC computer with software, that would be greatly appreciated? We would sure be grateful. Thank you Sun Spots readers! – Y.M., Lewiston.

Dear Sun Spots: Model railroading is recreating history. With that in mind, The Great Falls Model Railroad Club of Lewiston would like to add some Cushman bread trucks to our layout. In order to do this, we will have to make decals of their logo that they had on their trucks. So far we have been unable to find anything that we can either scan into a computer or take a photo of to do this.

As a kid living in Hebron, the Cushman truck run by a Mr. Gowell of Mechanic Falls would stop by the house every week. Their trucks ran throughout Northern New England and were of many styles. Mr. Gowell had Ford panel trucks. I remember three different trucks that he had. There were also bigger step-vans that were also used.

We are hoping that one or more of your readers would have some clear photos of the sides of these trucks showing their logo and the list of products that they sold. They also produced a bank that was a replica of one of their trucks. If someone would let us borrow their photos or let us take a photo of the bank, we would be most grateful. We would also provide them with a scanned image of their photo or our photo of the bank. I can be reached at (207) 933-2477 or e-mail me at [email protected]. Thank you for your help. – Terrence P. King, Treasurer, The Great Falls Model Railroad Club, Lewiston.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots located the following recipe online at www.koakampgrounds.com. Hopefully you and your family will enjoy this:

Ingredients: 1 cup Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips, 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk, 1 Tbsp. water, 1/2 cup granola cereal. Method: In large saucepan, combine chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk and water. Melt over low heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate chips melt and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat. Pour into foil-lined 8-inch square pan. Sprinkle top with granola cereal. Let stand until firm (about 1 hour). Cut into 1-inch squares. Note: Omit water when using Nestle butterscotch chips.
