AUBURN – Organizers of the revived Lewiston and Edward Little high school football parade have been meeting regularly to plan the event, which supports a friendly rivalry between the two schools.

The parade will take place the morning of the game when the Blue Devils and Red Eddies meet for the 160th time on Saturday, Oct. 29. The parade is slated to get under way at 10 a.m., with the Auburn and Lewiston contingents meeting at the center of the Longley Bridge and continuing the parade to Walton School via Main Street in Auburn.

Participants will include the bands, cheerleaders and mascots from both schools. The ELHS and LHS players will be part of the parade as well as their parents, who will caravan to Walton School. Also adding to the festivities will be the Kora Temple Cycle Corps, the Kora Krazy Kops with their paddy-wagon and the Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl tractor-trailer flatbed. The mayors of both cities and superintendents of schools will be part of the event as well. The theme for the parade is “Sports Done Right.” Students, faculty, residents and alumni are also invited to march in the parade.

As part of the Battle of the Bridge activities planned for when Edward Little High School hosts its rival, the Blue Devils of Lewiston High School, there will be a flag football game Thursday, Oct. 27, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Organizers are seeking EL and LHS alumni football players from all eras. For more information, Lewiston alumni should contact Jason Fuller at 795- 4190; Edward Little alumni should contact Don Morency at 786-9218 or 782-9741. Admission is $1 for all ages. All proceeds will go to the Katrina Relief Fund.
